Subject: Santa Barbara Amateur Radio Club Hamfest |
To all members of the Rabbit Radio Network, |
I want to extend a special welcome to the members of your club and all other amateur radio clubs in our Santa Barbara Section to come to the Santa Barbara Amateur Radio Club's Hamfest on Sunday, August 12. |
It will again be held at Elks Lodge Santa Barbara #613 at 150 N. Kellogg Avenue, which is just off Calle Real between Patterson and Fairview. Join us for our renowned Santa Barbara style barbecue, again expertly prepared by Elks Lodge members many of whom just happen to be hams. Peruse the swap tables. Once again HRO will be there, this time from the Burbank store. Check the flyer for other exhibitors who are coming from all over California, and even one from Arizona! |
Clubs and club members, this is your opportunity to take advantage of the swap area, which opens at 8:30. Come early to set up, and bring those items you've been wanting to sell. Call me at 805-967-9313 to reserve a spot so you can be assured of having a space set aside for you in the swap area. Parking spaces are all 9' x 18'. The first space is free. If you didn't reserve a spot, you can still sell from your parking space in the parking lot, just maybe not adjacent to the swap area as cars fill up the rest of the lot. |
Check the flyer also for our "tropo-duct-long" list of prizes. We still like the Icom IC-7000 as our grand prize, with its IF DSP, color display, and--did you know--a built-in digital voice recorder. And other features too many to list. Send in your ticket order using the form on the back of the flyer by August 1 and enter the drawing for a Sony shortwave radio! |

Other attractions include a 2 meter Transmitter Hunt. ATV demonstration. The SBARC Rover vehicle and pioneering ARES Communications Van. A well-stocked bookstore. Bring your QSL to show off--plain, fancy, new, old, whatever. They will be judged and the winner gets a prize. Upgrade your license at our VE session. Details are on the back of the flyer. Call Darryl Widman at 969-2326 to pre-register for the session. |
Bring the whole family! We will have an alternative craft demonstration on "one-stroke" painting. The local astronomy club, the Astronomical Unit, will have solar telescopes available for viewing ol' sol, for both kids and adults to enjoy. Kids and adults can also enjoy the Transformer Toss and QLF Contest, and the winner of each, you guessed it, gets a prize! See the June and July articles on Hamfest at www.sbarc.org lt;http://www.sbarc.org/> for more details. |
See you August 12! |
